The Property
Situated on the edge of Beechworth, which is 30km from the foot of Mount Buffalo in Victoria, the property is 1800' above sea level. Temperatures range from about minus 4 degrees C to plus 42 degrees C. With a 35 inch rainfall we average about one fall of snow per year.
A growth season of about 8 to 10 weeks a year in Oct/Nov is usual although like everywhere else there are exceptions. Soil type is red shale at the homestead (230 acres) and granite on Sheepstation (880 acres) which is realistically only light sheep country.
